"Owner's protective Agent" In recent shipping market, shipping agent, which take owner's protective agent care of owner's interest at the port of call as well as charter's are usually nominated by charter's recommendation and/or request. Therefore, in terms of protecting owner's interest, agents does not give 100% satisfaction to ship owner because time and service is more likely be contributed to charter's interest. We guess, your esteemed company might have had those kind of unpleasant experience while your company vessel called at Koren port. Whey do you suffer from such unacceptable service? As a leading shipping agent in Korea, we would like to give solution, called "Owner"s Protective Agent System", for those kind of problem. Please read our proposal thoroughly. then you will understand how officially approved agent system works and advantage your company will receive from the system without hurting owner's good relationship with charterer.

Owner's Protective agent

This system is only applicable to shipowners, who have to follow charterer’s recommendation when nominate agent. Without any additional fee, you can nominate your own agent called Owner’s Protective Agent(hereafter, OPA). Afterwards, Charterer’s recommended agent is nominated through OPA regardless of charterer’s intention. Therefore, there are normally two agent for the one vessel, sometimes only one when OPA is also recommended by charterer. OPA only acts on behalf of owner and plays a role a bridge between owner and charterer(of charterer’ agent) when charterer’s agent takes care of cargo matter with shipper/supplier. This OPA System is , of course, official system approved by Korean Shipping Agencies Association.

The Role of OPA

- Appointing charterer’s nominated agent in accordance with shipowner’s instruction.
- Reporting vsl’s loading operation to shipowner.
  (Charter’s agent will report cargo operation to OPA and charterer;s side directly)
- Controlling charterer’s nominated agent in terms of port charges, performance and financial status for the sake of
  shipowner’s interest.
  (Sometimes shipowner is not familiar with the charterer’s nominated agent)
- Handling owner’s matters such as Crew Replacement, Bunkers, Spares, Provision, Mail, CTM and other usual has
  ban dry matters.
